Deforestation is a cause close to the heart of Carla Viktor, Miss Earth South Africa. She has devoted much energy to tree planting, and will be taking her message to the international Miss Earth competition, where she will be an ambassador for South Africa's earth warriors.

The Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park in KwaZulu-Natal, which has one of the largest rhino populations in the world, has reportedly experienced a 92% reduction in poaching incidents during a year-long project that has included the use of South African-built drones.

“Together our combined efforts can bring an end to the scourge of violence against women and children, just as apartheid was defeated by a collective groundswell of popular resistance,” writes Minister in the Presidency Jeff Radebe during the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children campaign.
