It's a dream come true, says Team MTN-Qhubeka on receiving an invitation to participate in the 2015 Tour de France. They will be the first African team ever to do so in the prestigious race's 101 year history.

South Africa’s MTN-Qhubeka cycling team is one of five wildcard entries for the Tour the France.

Team MTN-Qhubeka have announced a major signing: Edvald Boasson Hagen, a stage winner in both the Tour de France and Giro d'Italia, is set to join the South African cycling outfit on a two-year contract.

Jacques Janse van Rensburg capped an excellent week of racing for Team MTN-Qhubeka when he retained the yellow jersey he had earned after the first stage to take the overall victory in South Africa's Mzansi Tour on the weekend.

Apart from the national championships, Team MTN-Qhubeka has yet to race in South Africa as a UCI Professional Continental Team. However, that will change on Tuesday when the team lines up for the Mzansi Tour in Johannesburg.

Africa's first Pro-Continental cycling team, Team MTN-Qhubeka, is going from strength to strength following a successful international debut season, and has now been invited to participate in Spain's most prestigious race, the Vuelta a Espana.

South African Pro Continental Cycling Team MTN-Qhuebka have received an invitation to the Ronde van Vlaanderan, one of the five "Monuments" of world cycling - the oldest and most-prestigious one-day events on the calendar after the World Championship Road Race.

Further evidence of Team MTN-Qhubeka growing status was provided on Monday when the South African UCI Professional Continental cycling team was given a wild card invitation to be part of the 78th Tour de Suisse, a World Tour stage race taking place from 14 to 22 June.

Team MTN-Qhubeka powered by Samsung begins its 2014 season at the La Tropicale Amissa Bongo in Gabon next week, with two of the six riders in their line-up making comebacks to professional cycling.
