Despite delivery problems that meant the feature plants for the exhibit never arrived in London, the South African National Biodiversity Institute Kirstenbosch team collected a Silver Gilt award at the annual international flower show. Once again, the display shows South Africa's beauty.

Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, which offers visitors many unusual experiences and showcases the diverse Cape Floral kingdom in a very accessible way, has been named as Garden of the Year at the 2015 International Garden Tourism awards.

More than a million people visited Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden in 2014. Tourism is crucial to the survival of South Africa's conservation and biodiversity assets, as the income generated from visitors helps to manage protected areas. They also raise awareness of conservation issues.
