When teaching children, repetition is important, the principal of Akani Primary School stressed during a Play Your Part clean-up. Pupils took part in the event, and were reminded of the importance of keeping their environment free of litter.

Brand South Africa, as part of its mandate to build pride, patriotism and a spirit of active citizenship, has partnered with the GEM Project and Miss Earth South Africa. The three organisations will collaborate and play their part to clean up schools in the Diepsloot community on Saturday 24 October. The aim of the collaboration is to encourage citizens to play their part by cleaning up and recycling in their communities.

GEM Project, the app that gets people to volunteer for good causes, spread their footprint across Gauteng this Mandela Day. With a presence at 10 events, the app got South Africans giving more of their time and energy.

On 18 July, people around the world are urged to participate in acts of kindness; through the Play Your Part for Madiba campaign and GEM app, they are encouraged to keep paying it forward throughout the year.

The buy-in for Nelson Mandela International Day keeps growing, and this year the seven-year-old campaign aims to be marked in even more countries.

For this Mandela Month, Brand South Africa has partnered with the GEM Project, an app that gets individuals and communities to help each other. Volunteers are encouraged to donate the GEMs they earn for their good work back to the needy causes during Mandela Month.
