South Africa has given its support to a UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate end to the violence against civilians in Cote d'Ivoire and imposing targeted sanctions on Laurent Gbagbo, who has refused to step down as president since losing elections in November.

South Africa low-fare airline 1time has struck a deal that will see an empowerment consortium acquiring a 25% stake in the aviation group for about R49-million, with the proceeds being used to expand the airline's operations and add new routes.
