Durban’s massive Cornubia development under way
President Jacob Zuma officially launched the government's massive Cornubia development on Sunday. The R25-billion mixed-use development of housing, commercial and industrial sites is set to change the skyline between Durban and King Shaka International Airport.
A brand-new city is being built outside Durban
First there were the dreary little boxes of RDP houses. Then there came the growing recognition that it's not just houses that need to be built; communities and places where people actually want to live are required. And Cornubia is one of the first communities to come out of the Breaking New Ground policy.
Durban set for Cornubia development
The government's multi-billion rand Cornubia development north of Durban is set to get under way, with the South African National Roads Agency having agreed to fund the bulk of the R830-million N2/M41 interchange upgrade which lies at the heart of the development.
