South Africa's Chad le Clos won four gold medals in the second leg of the Fina Swimming World Cup, while fellow swimmer Cameron van der Burgh kept the South African flag flying high with his victory too. They are taking part in the Fina/airweave Swimming World Cup series.

In the week he was crowned as the world's best swimmer for 2014, South Africa's Olympic champion Chad le Clos set a new world record in the 100m butterfly - and won gold in the 200m freestyle - at the World Short-Course Swimming Championships in Doha.

The nation's sporting royalty came out to celebrate excellence at the Sport Ministry's annual SA Sports Awards, with Banyana Banyana striker Portia Modise claiming the crown as Sports Star of the Year. She is the first African football player to score 100 goals in international competition.

Chad le Clos claimed an individual bronze and added a further bronze as a member of the South African medley relay team on Tuesday evening to take his individual haul to seven medals at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
