For the fourth year, Trek4Mandela will climb Mount Kilimanjaro, summiting the peak on 18 July, Madiba's birthday. The organisation is raising funds for the health and hygiene of rural and poor schoolgirls.
Club Travel staff rallied behind Mandela Day and the "67 Blankets for Madiba" campaign by using nearly 50km of wool to craft blankets, which were auctioned to benefit abused women and their children at the Sisters Incorporated shelter in Cape Town.
Vodacom staff in the Western Cape answered the call to serve on Mandela Day by packing 9 000 food parcels for distribution to schools attended by children from impoverished backgrounds, in the outlying areas of the Cape.
