EVENT DETAILS
MAIN PLENARY
A 2022 study by Bloom Consulting on South Africa’s international reputation has established that trade and investment, tourism and talent are the key strategic drivers of South Africa’s nation brand competitiveness. Leading and emerging South African corporations continue to play significant roles in driving the economy, and enabling trade and investment within and across borders.
On a global scale, South Africa retains its reputation as an attractive investment destination. For instance, in the automotive sector, major international businesses such as Toyota, which has been trading in South Africa for over 60 years has pledged to invest over R12 billion in the next 10 years in manufacturing facilities in South Africa, and Netflix, pledged almost a billion rand towards the South African creative industry at the recent 4th South Africa Investment Conference (SAIC). These investments into the South African economy by international companies cement the confidence that international investors have in South Africa’s as an attractive investment destination.
It is in this context that the main plenaries on 6 October 2022 will be focused on mobilising and leveraging partnerships with local and non-South African businesses to inspire collaborations and explore policy and other interventions and solutions that will drive and enable economic growth.
