DIGITAL ECONOMY AND ICT

As one of Africa’s biggest marketplaces for information and communications technology (ICT), the South African ICT Market is expected to grow at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 9.3% for a forecast period between 2023 and 2028. The department of Communications and Digital Technologies has in line with its digital economy framework strategy, a planned expenditure of over $3 million for the ICT Policy Development and Research programme. This will enable and support a legislative sector that is regulated by the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) to ensure safe and best practice for all sector players.

With a valuation of US$ 33.49 billion in 2022 that is coupled with a healthy Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR), the South African ICT sector presents cumulative revenue generation opportunities for ICT providers that is estimated at US$ 232.36 billion between 2022/23 to 2027.
