Johannesburg, Tuesday 17 November – Brand SA intends the panel discussion to open a dialogue with other attendees on South Africa’s strengths, challenges and opportunities as highlighted by the Anholt-GfK Roper 2015 Nation Brand Index (NBI) as well as other global competitiveness rankings, and to identify potential ways of enhancing the nation brand’s global reputation.
The NBI is one such instrument through which Brand SA tracks the reputation of the nation brand. As a subscriber to the NBI, Brand SA receives a detailed analysis of the country’s image and reputation according to the six pillars of the Nation Brand Hexagon: Governance; Exports; Tourism; People; Culture; Investment & Immigration. International perceptions are gauged of the country’s tourism and investment offerings, educational prestige, it’s people and culture, economy and business environment, products and services, immigration appeal, overall favourability and familiarity, to name a few.
This breakfast dialogue will reflect on South Africa’s image and reputation as highlighted by the 2015 NBI and contextualise the state of the country’s competitiveness by drawing on insights from other global competitiveness assessments, including the World Economic Forum’s Global Competitiveness Index and the Mo Ibrahim Index on African Governance.
The dialogue will kick off with welcome remarks by Brand SA CEO, Mr. Kingsley Makhubela followed by introductory remarks by Mr. Sello Mosai, Executive Manager for Value Chain Competitiveness at Productivity SA. Dr. Petrus de Kock will then present key findings on South Africa’s global reputation from the 2015 Nation Brand Index. This will be followed by an interactive panel discussion led by Tonya Khoury, CEO ROI Africa and Dr. Iraj Abedian, CEO at Pan-African Capital Holdings, and Mr. Sello Mosai.
