Johannesburg, 29 November 2013 – Brand South Africa, in support of World AIDS Day on 1 December 2013, urges all South Africans to play our part in knowing our HIV and Aids status.
The global theme for World Aids Day is comprised of three messages: “Zero New HIV infection, Zero Discrimination, and Zero Aids related deaths”. This theme announced in 2011, will continue until 2015.
South Africa has made strides in addressing HIV and Aids in the country and one of the greatest achievements has been Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi’s announcement in April 2013 that we would be introducing a single dose ARV pill.
Brand South Africa Director: Strategic Marketing and Communications Ms Wendy Tlou said, “In keeping with the global theme, it is important that all South African’s play their part by actively taking steps to be responsible and know their HIV status. South Africa is making great strides in its fight against the spread of HIV and AIDS through the launch of the single-dose ARV pill. This does not however suggest that South African citizens should become complacent in their behaviours and awareness towards HIV and AIDS.”
