Johannesburg, Monday 22 August 2016 – Brand South Africa will on Wednesday 24 August 2016 host the inaugural Nation Brand Forum at the Maslow Hotel in Sandton, Johannesburg.
The Forum, which will be opened by the Minister of Communication, Faith Muthambi, aims to bring together a broad range of stakeholders to consider and recommend ways in which the South African brand can be positioned as being globally competitive, in a cohesive manner.
Since the Nation Brand is built on the three main pillars – government, business and civil society – a consultative approach is required to generate alignment so that all stakeholders are better able to collectively position the nation brand cohesively.
A nation brand is also built through the country’s actions and behaviours, by a range of actors and stakeholders working in concert and communicating a consistent message. An understanding and appreciation of the inter-relationship between all stakeholders and their interaction with the Nation Brand, is very important in order to build the country’s reputation and shape perceptions.
The forum also aims to share best practice in the discipline of nation branding.
The Forum will include a plenary and breakaway sessions looking at pillars of the South African Nation Brand – Tourism, Governance and Social Cohesion, Investment and Exports and Culture, heritage and People. These breakaway sessions are aligned to the Nation Brand Hexagon which outlines who country brands are formed.
