Fancy yourself an artist? Do you have an idea you want to put down on paper and share with the rest of the world? If so, you can enter your piece of A5 art into the Give a Doodle exhibition, and your artwork will be sold to a lucky buyer.

The exhibition of all the donated works will take place in November and all proceeds from the Give a Doodle exhibition, South Africa’s biggest one-night-only inner city exhibition, will go to funding education.

Over 1000 drawings were sold at last year’s exhibition, raising more than R100 000 for charity in the process.

Buyers will have their choice of thousands of different doodles, scribbles, graffiti, sketches, watercolour and oil paintings, experimental and conceptual works created by up-and-coming artists, established artists, and regular people who have some visual inspiration to share for the good of the less fortunate.

Each of the pieces will be sold for R100. They will be displayed in no particular order, and everyone is invited to the exhibition of 1000 Drawings, where they can share in the magic of art and improving life for the less fortunate.

GET INVOLVED

Getting involved is easy. If your piece of art is digital or can be scanned on to your computer, you can submit your work by posting it on the 1000 Drawings Facebook page or the Instagram page and the 1000 Drawings social team will do the rest.

Entries can also be physically dropped off at participating stores around Johannesburg. They include The Jungle (Warm & Glad) in Craighall Park, The Squad in Bryanston, Wolves in Illovo, 4th Avenue Coffee Roasters in Parkhurst, Nice Work and Bean There Coffee Shop in Milpark, and Grain in Johannesburg’s CBD.

Any individuals, shops or other businesses that want to become a part of this initiative can contact the people at 1000 Drawings via the details below to find out how they can help make this year’s drive a raging success.
