With better skills among young South Africans in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM), the country will be able to boost economic growth. As the head of KwaZulu-Natal’s Moses Kotane Institute, Sakhile Ngcobo is taking this to heart.
Ngcobo says he hopes to expand the institute’s programmes to other provinces tied with its national mandate. This aim is directly linked to what MKI’s founding fathers, Dr Zweli Mkhize, Dr Nqaba Ngcobo and Dr Phil Mjwara, had in mind regarding the contribution of STEM skills to economic growth and sustainability.
