The Active Schools Initiative (ASI) is a registered NPO that is providing a holistic violence prevention & empowerment programme called ´Play & Learn´ at 15 primary schools in 8 different disadvantaged communities of Cape Town and Johannesburg
The programme assists children to cope with difficult living conditions and empower them to become positive change agents in their own schools, neighbourhoods and communities.
Play & Learn includes school ground development, interval programmes, holiday programmes, leadership training for selected child trainers and teacher workshops on topics including positive discipline, numeracy and literacy games, substance abuse prevention and others.
We need assistance with office supplies and stationery, clothing and food for ASI staff, books and learning equipment for our school library, material which can be used to build jungle gyms etc, on which the children can play during interval times, and harnesses, helmets and other equipment for our kids climbing programme.
We also need financial assistance/ donations for Play & Learn items like balls, skipping ropes, hula-hoops, trampolines, balloons, face paints and stationery.
