A one-stop business facilitation hub has opened in Ekurhuleni, east of Johannesburg, bringing together a range of business solutions for small and big enterprises.

The Ekurhuleni Business Facilitation Network, set up at a cost of R10-million, is situated on the corner of Voortrekker and Monument streets in Kempton Park, just five minutes’ drive from OR Tambo International Airport.

Officially opened by Ekurhuleni mayor Mondli Gungubele last week, the hub provides services ranging from business registration, training and planning to mentorship, incubation, marketing, access to finance and business linkages.

It also boasts an investment and development application front office, which allows for investment and development applications to be speedily processed through an electronic document management system, as well as a tracking service for strategic investment projects.

Gungubele said the hub would serve as a “one-stop shop” for doing business in the area, while helping to fight poverty and unemployment by creating an enabling environment for investors.

The aim, he said, was to drive economic growth by increasing domestic and foreign direct investment in Ekurhuleni, and in so doing to make a dent in the area’s 28.8% unemployment rate by creating sustainable job opportunities.
