The Springboks rugby squad rediscovered the warmth of South Africans as the team were left to make their own way from Cape Town to their Stellenbosch training camp, using only the goodwill of the public.
The video of their journey – hashtagged #LoveRugby – has garnered thousands of views.
For fans, it was cool to meet and help their heroes. For the Springboks it was a reminder of how important the team is to the nation.
Springbok and Western Province flank Siya Kolisi said it was awesome to discover how friendly South Africans are to each another. “We just asked for a lift. A person gives you a lift, and they give you more than that.”
