Cape Town, 2 June 2015 – Brand South Africa will host several interactive dialogue sessions with various stakeholders during the course of the Word Economic Forum on Africa in Cape Town, South Africa from Wednesday 3 to Friday 5 June 2015.
The WEF Africa 2015 platform provides South Africa with the opportunity to engage not only regional stakeholders and partners, but also the international community on programmes of social, economic and political rejuvenation for the African continent.
South Africa brings a robust and unequivocal message to the Forum that South Africa is Open for Business.
The series of engagements will also create platforms for African peers to deliberate on issues of improving regional integration and political co-operation for sustained socio-economic development and growth for the African continent.
South Africa’s prosperity is indistinguishably linked to the economic development of the rest of Africa, which offers enormous market potential and, as yet, untapped resources.
South Africa supports a development integration agenda reinforced by three critical elements, namely: market integration, industrial and infrastructure development. These pillars aim to address the critical constraints facing Africa which are small and fragmented markets and inadequate productive capacity, as well as inadequate infrastructure development.
And as part of its developmental trajectory, South Africa has developed a National Development Plan (NDP) which aims to steer the nation’s economic and social development. Closely underpinned to South Africa’s NDP strategy, which will also be driving key discussion focus areas throughout the course of the WEF Africa 2015, is Agenda 2063 – which represents a collective effort and an opportunity for Africa to regain its power and determine its own destiny.
Agenda 2063 is based on the AU’s Vision to build an integrated, prosperous and peaceful Africa, and is viewed as a new phase in efforts by Africans to catalyse development of the continent and strengthen African integration and unity.
