Christmas has come early for the Randburg SPCA thanks to a donation of R72 000 by Bytes Document Solutions, enabling the organisation to continue taking care of abandoned pets and funding its activities.
Bytes Document Solutions (BDS) is the authorised distributor of Xerox products in 26 sub-Saharan African countries and is a division of the Bytes Technology Group.
Every year, hundreds of animals make their way to the Randburg SPCA where they are cared for 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days of the year. The SPCA further conducts animal placements, animal rescues and protection.
They also prosecute people who wilfully abuse animals and the organisation runs education programmes to prevent animal cruelty.
SOCIAL COMMITMENT
As part of BDS’s social commitment to uplifting our communities and society, the company is supporting the SPCA’s mission of freedom for animals: freedom from hunger and thirst; freedom from discomfort; freedom from pain injury or diseases; freedom to express their normal behaviour; and freedom from fear and distress.
The contribution from BDS was a result of a fundraising project embarked on during its annual sales conference where it was decided to incorporate a CSI element into the theme.
BDS has always had a strong social conscience and has a history of community involvement through which it aims to provide support to worthwhile projects and organisations in order to make a real difference to socio-economic challenges.
DIRE NEED OF FUNDING
The company’s CEO Johan Basson says that the company acknowledges its responsibility towards the communities in which it operates in.
The work the SPCA does, while absolutely crucial, comes at a cost, and the Randburg SPCA is in dire need of funding to help them continue their fantastic work. Heading into the festive season, their services are in even greater demand.
Basson lauded the Randburg SPCA for the work they do and commended them for their dedication and commitment to such a good cause.
He also noted that this initiative was made possible mainly by the efforts of BDS’s sales team, spearheaded by divisional sales director of the Xerox Division Warren Mande, who went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that we could give the SPCA as much as possible.
“It is heartening to be a part of such an amazing team and to know that you are making a difference at the same time,” said Basson.
