Over 50 000 fans, suiteholders, sponsors and Blue Bulls Company staff turned Pretoria pink over the weekend in support of the Get Your Pink On campaign, aimed at raising the awareness of the importance of early cancer detection.
The partnership with the Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa) proved to be nothing short of a match winner.
The Get Your Pink on Campaign, a joint initiative by the Blue Bulls Company and CANSA, kicked off a fortnight ago with the intention of using the global popularity of the Vodacom Bulls to promote the fundraising drive.

“Our wide-reaching service of research, education and support includes prevention and education campaigns, patient care and support in the form of 11 Cansa Care Homes in the main metro areas for out-of-town cancer patients.”
There were cheers all round the stadium when the crowd were told that over R468 000 was raised. Added to that were seven best dressed fans who will receive an official Vodacom Bulls signed jersey. Rewarded for their creativity, the winners were officially recognised as the seven best dressed fans in the 50 000-strong crowd.
FESTIVELY PINK
The atmosphere was festively pink in the build-up to the crunch Vodacom Super Rugby match between the Vodacom Bulls and the DHL Stormers with a host of entertainment for adults and fun activities for younger fans.
Cancer awareness was promoted with in-stadium initiatives that included six Sprayathon stations and Mobile Health Unit that tested men and women for skin and breast cancer respectively. The DHL Stormers rallied behind the campaign by wearing pink armbands throughout the match.
With just three days to go before the campaign concludes at midnight on June 6th, the Blue Bulls Company would like to continue the challenge of further donations from fans.
To support the campaign, SMS the amount of your donation (anything from R10 – R200) to 30100, or visit www.getyourpinkon.co.za. Those who make an online or SMS donation will be entered into a draw to win one of 15 official Vodacom Bulls jerseys autographed by the whole 2012 Vodacom Bulls team.
