Johannesburg, Sunday 8 September 2013 – Brand South Africa congratulates Anant Singh on the screening of the Long Walk to Freedom at the Toronto Film Festival on Saturday 7 September 2013.

The movie features the life of South African icon and the country’s first democratically elected President Nelson Mandela. The film is based on Madiba’s autobiography of the same name.

Speaking about the film, Brand South Africa CEO Miller Matola said, “The production of this film that celebrates the life of our national icon is indeed timely, especially as South Africans will celebrate 20 years of democracy in 2014. The name of Tata Nelson Mandela is synonymous with our freedom and liberation. As South Africans, we can best honour the legacy of Tata Madiba by playing our part to ensure our democracy is enduring. Each of us can contribute to this in our individual environments.”

Long Walk to Freedom will premier in South Africa in November at the Maponya Mall in Soweto, following which it will be publicly released on 28 November at Nu Metro, Ster-Kinekor and independent cinemas throughout the country.

The movie trailer can be found at www.mandelamovie.co.za.
