SA, Kuwait eye more business

Foreign Minister Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma concluded an official visit to Kuwait on Sunday, where she paid a courtesy call on Kuwaiti Prime Minister Shaikh Sabah Al Jaber Al Sabah before holding talks with her counterpart, Shaikh Mohamed Sabah Al Salem Al Sabah.

The Department of Foreign Affairs said that the two ministers resolved to encourage businesses to take advantage of the trade, investment and tourism opportunities that both countries offered.

The two ministers also agreed to expedite discussions with an eye to signing an agreement on bilateral trade, reciprocal promotion and protection of investments, and air services in 2005.

South African exports to Kuwait currently stand at R170-million, while Kuwait’s exports to South Africa total R600-million.

Dlamini Zuma concluded her visit by meeting with the chairperson of the Kuwaiti Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ali Al Ghanim.
