Multinational aviation group ExecuJet has announced that it will be moving its operations to a new, bigger facility at Cape Town International Airport in October.
ExecuJet South Africa, which opened in 2004, will be the anchor tenant and has secured the naming rights to a new R250-million world-class aviation and business centre being developed at the airport by a local business concern.
“ExecuJet is an expert in flight planning and ground handling into African destinations, making use of a wide network of approved agents to assist in obtaining clearances, landing permits and over flight permits,” ExecuJet South Africa Western Cape regional manager Mark Abbott said in a statement last week.
“There is no other company on the continent that can offer comparable turn-around times.”
So far, phase one of the ExecuJet Business Centre has been completed, with the final phase set for completion in early 2009.
State-of-the-art facility
The purpose-built, state-of-the-art fixed base operations facility is located parallel to the main runway, with 5 000 square metres of hangar and 7 000 square metres of ramp parking, and has exclusive access to the taxiway and runway of Cape Town International.
ExecuJet’s services will include a fixed base operation, non-scheduled business aircraft charter, general aviation aircraft maintenance, boardroom and secretarial services, parking facilities, concierge services and helicopter transfers.
In addition, the company has extensive experience in planning VIP, diplomatic and presidential flights.
With the company recently having received European maintenance approval, it will now provide maintenance services to both local and foreign aircraft owners at its Cape Town facility. The approval allows the company to perform maintenance work on European registered aircraft, with the approval of European aviation authorities.
“The provision of these services will be an extension of the services already provided by ExecuJet South Africa at Lanseria Airport and other ExecuJet facilities in Dubai, Sydney, Melbourne, Kuala Lumpur, Zurich, Berlin, Copenhagen and Monterey”, said ExecuJet South Africa MD Ettore Poggi.
