The fire that broke out on Devil’s Peak above Cape Town on Tuesday 17 March, forcing between 50 and 70 families to evacuate their homes, was “more or less contained” but would keep firefighters busy for the next few days, Table Mountain National Park fire chief Philip Prins told News24 on Wednesday afternoon.
Firefighters worked most of the night to get the fire under control and four helicopters, including a Defence Force Oryx, were called in at dawn to water-bomb the fire. Click arrow to play video.
