President Jacob Zuma joined a crowd of dignitaries, construction workers and football fans at Green Point Stadium in Cape Town on Thursday, 11 June 2009, for the singing of the national anthem and, at 4pm on the dot, the kicking of a soccer ball to mark the one-year countdown to Africa’s first World Cup.
