Internet service provider MWeb is aiming to shake up the local market with the launch of uncapped hosting for R19 a month, making it more affordable for South Africans to put their businesses on the map, with no limit to the amount of traffic to customers’ websites and storage space also uncapped.
“With our new uncapped hosting product, supported by uncapped ADSL, South Africans will be able to afford a convenient, easy-to-understand package to kick-start their business website without the cost-related and admin intensive concerns,” MWeb Connect general manager Carolyn Holgate said in a statement this week.
Local hosting, faster browsing
The package includes a free co.za domain name (e.g.mybusiness.co.za) and a personalised e-mail address (e.g. john@mybusiness.co.za) with five additional aliases (e.g. finance@mybusiness.co.za).
Users will also receive a MySQL database which is easy to deploy and administer and offers a range of benefits, such as listing product catalogues and suppliers’ details.
All this is locally hosted at MWeb’s South African data centres, allowing websites to download faster for local visitors.
“We have always taken a strong stance in getting start-up businesses off the ground and assisting them in meeting their business technology needs from launch to growth phase,” said Holgate. “The beauty of uncapped hosting is that it establishes an online presence for your business or personal use that is both affordable and convenient.
“In addition, MWeb ADSL customers will get MWeb uncapped hosting for free for the first year.”
Domain for life
MWeb provisions the website, registers it for its customers and renews their domain on an annual basis, ensuring that customers have a domain for life and alleviating all the administration intensive tasks that are required when getting a website online.
“We are extremely proud to be launching the uncapped hosting platform at such an affordable price and to make it a reality for South African small business owners and consumers to put their product, brands and name in the market,” said Holgate.
“Together with the launch of uncapped ADSL in March 2010, we believe that we have found the perfect business solution for small business owners.”
