South African services and solutions provider Dimension Data (Didata) has been hogging the honours lately. The company, recently named global partner of the year by US communications firm Polycom, has now added US IT giant Cisco’s partner of the year award to its trophy cabinet.

“The Global Partner of the Year award presented to Dimension Data recognises its outstanding achievement as a Cisco channel partner in the Middle East and Africa in 2011,” Edison Peres, Cisco’s senior vice-president for worldwide channels, said at the company’s channel partner conference, held recently in San Diego, California.

Michael Abendanon said Didata had been working with Cisco for 21 years, and that the award validated Didata’s “global breadth, technical excellence, and execution capabilities across 51 countries in all Cisco theatres”.

Earlier this month, at a similar conference held in Orlando, Florida, Didata was named both global and EMEA system integrator partner of the year by Polycom, the global leader in open standards-based unified communications.

“We are working hard to make Polycom RealPresence video and voice collaboration widely available for people throughout the world, and we couldn’t do it without partners like Dimension Data,” said Ron Myers, Polycom’s senior vice-president for worldwide channels.

“In both established and emerging markets worldwide, we’re proud to be represented by the best this industry has to offer.”
