South African model Candice Swanepoel features on the cover of Victoria’s Secret’s latest swim catalogue – for the fourth consecutive year.
The series – “Angel’s Journey” – was shot by fashion photographer Russell James in Saint Tropez, France, the lingerie brand said in a statement on Monday.
Now based in New York, 25-year-old Swanepoel was born in Mooi River, KwaZulu- Natal, South Africa and was spotted by a scout at a flea market in Durban when she was 15.
In 2013, she was ranked ninth on the Forbes top-earning models list, with earnings of $3.3-million, according to a survey by Forbes.com.
She has modelled in Victoria Secret’s shows since 2007 and has been featured in a variety of their print and television campaigns. In November last year she modelled a $10-million “fantasy bra” at the Victoria Secret’s annual fashion show.
The bra and matching belt, designed by jeweller Mouawad, was adorned with more than 4 200 precious gems, including rubies, diamonds and yellow sapphires set in 18 carat gold with a 52-carat ruby at the centre.
“It’s such an honour to be chosen for the cover of the swim catalogue,” Swanepoel is quoted as saying. “The swim shoots are my favorite part of being a VS Angel and it’s amazing to see all our hard work come together in a beautiful catalogue.”
